The series was shot on Bowen Island, an island municipality about 2 km west of Vancouver in Canada's British Columbia province, and at the University of British Columbia.
The actors and actresses were not told about their characters' deaths until the day that each script was given. The only actor to know the length of his contract was Richard Burgi.
