Harriet G. Eddy Middle School is a middle school in Elk Grove, California, USA. Their mascot is the hornet. The school is managed by the Elk Grove Unified School District. It was named a national Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education in 2000, the highest honor a US school can receive.
Elk Grove's fourth middle school opened in the fall of 1994 as the feeder school for Laguna Creek High School. It took just three years to build at a cost of $13 million. The school is named for a principal of Elk Grove Union High School (now called Elk Grove High School) who served from 1907 to 1909. Miss Harriet Gertrude Eddy, who got the high school accredited with the formation of the first rural library in California, went on to create county libraries in 40 of the 58 counties of the state as well as in other countries, notably the Soviet Union.
In April 2000, the school won the Oral Language Faire team championship title for the fourth time in five years.
