Haywood County is a county located in the U.S. state of North Carolina. It is part of the Asheville, North Carolina, Metropolitan Statistical Area. As of 2000, the population was 57,109. Its county seat and largest city is Waynesville. The county was formed in 1808 from the western part of Buncombe County.
