During an endurance challenge, she and fellow contestant Jenna Morasca stripped off their clothing in exchange for peanut butter and Oreo cookies. Hamels was born Heidi Strobel in Bethesda, Maryland. She attended Drury University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in exercise physiology, secondary education and physical education. Before she joined the cast of Survivor, she was a teacher. She is currently working on a master’s degree in physical education at West Chester University in West Chester, Pennsylvania.
Heidi married Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Cole Hamels on December 31, 2006. She gave birth to their son, Caleb Michael, on October 9, 2009.
