Highland Tech High School is a standards based school in Anchorage, Alaska in the Anchorage School District. It is a charter school dedicated to the standards based model. It is the first standards based school in the Anchorage School District (ASD) and had its first graduating class on May 31, 2006. A charter for an extension of the school's campus in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough School District has been approved and plans for the school are under way. The Principle of Highland Tech is Dr. Ginger Blackon. She, along with Assistant Principle Rebecca Midles, administrate the school. Students have the opportunity to fill out an, "Individual Learning Plan," or, "ILP," so they can cover standards they missed or ones they haven't worked on. The student may choose a standard or standard(s) and an activity that covers the standard(s) then record it on an, "ILP," form.
