Orson writes a diary entry about an incident that began when he noticed that everyone on the farm was acting strangely, especially Lanolin. Lanolin seemed to be acting mean toward everyone, especially Bo. She first locked him out in the rain (causing his wool to shrink); then she knitted Booker a sweater using Bo’s wool (while it was still on him). Later, during a game of checkers, she became disagreeable toward him for no apparent reason. Bo ignored this by going to bed, but then Lanolin burst in and disagreed with him again.
Bo concluded that Lanolin must not want him around, so he left a note and then left the farm in favor of an old, abandoned shack on top of a hill. Lanolin pretended to not be bothered by this, but she exploded on Wade about it after he simply said hi to her. Orson suggested that she missed Bo, which she denied.
