Ian H. Sloan is an Australian applied mathematician who was born in Melbourne in 1938. He was educated at Melbourne University (BSc 1958, BA (hons) 1960), Adelaide University (MSc, 1961). He was supervised by renowned mathematical physicist Sir Harrie Massey at University College, University of London and earned his PhD in 1964.
