Il maestro di cappella (often translated in English as The Music Teacher) is an intermezzo in one act by Domenico Cimarosa. The first known performance of the work was on July 2, 1793 in Berlin, Germany. However, it is likely that this was not the premier production. Music historians believe the opera debuted somewhere between 1786-1792. The author of the opera's libretto is now unknown.

Domenico Cimarosa (17 December 1749 – 11 January 1801) was an Italian opera composer of the Neapolitan school. He wrote more than eighty operas during his lifetime, including his masterpiece, Il matrimonio segreto (1792).
