The project is notable due to its contribution to Hewitt receiving the part of Melinda Gordon in the hit TV series Ghost Whisperer. While in talks at the studio about the series, Hewitt stepped outside where one of the Ghost Whisperer producers noticed her (the producers were in the same hall trying to figure out who they wanted to cast as Melinda Gordon). Hewitt was asked by the producers whether she would star in the series, and following the collapse of In the Game, she agreed.
