The Institute of Notre Dame is a private Catholic all-girls high school located in Baltimore, Maryland. It is located in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Baltimore.
The Institute of Notre Dame, known as "IND" or "the Institute" by those who are familiar with the school, was founded in 1847, making it the first school founded by the School Sisters of Notre Dame in the United States. The founder of the school is Mother Teresa Gerhardinger, now beatified in the Catholic Church. The school is unique in the fact that it has stayed in its downtown location on Aisquith Street since its founding. IND is adjacent to the Caroline Center, a center run by the School Sisters of Notre Dame which provides job training to local women. IND's current president is Charisse Wernecke. Currently, around 400 young women attend the school.
