Green was a three-year letterman at the University of Florida and member of the 1996 National Championship team, where he had seven catches for 79 yards in the championship game. He was a first-team All-America selection by the Associated Press and the Walter Camp Football Foundation in 1997 and was one of three finalists for the Biletnikoff Award (with Randy Moss and Troy Edwards). The consensus All-SEC choice caught 61 passes for 1,024 yards and nine touchdowns that junior season before entering the NFL Draft.
