Jaegwon Kim (born 1934 in Daegu, Korea (now in South Korea)) is an American philosopher currently working at Brown University. He is best known for his work on mental causation and the mind-body problem. Kim took two years of college in Seoul, Korea as a French literature major, before transferring to Dartmouth College in 1955. Soon after, at Dartmouth, he changed to a combined major in French, mathematics, and philosophy and received a B.A. degree. After Dartmouth, he went to Princeton University, where he earned his Ph.D. in philosophy.
