He is now a member of Former Ghosts as well. He is a native of Northridge, California, grew up in Los Angeles, California, and currently lives in Durham, North Carolina. His father, Michael Stewart, was formerly a music producer and software engineer. His late father has been producer for such artists as Billy Joel and Tom Jones, and was in the 1960s band We Five. His late uncle, John Stewart, was also in the music business. Jamie started out in an R&B; cover band before forming IBOPA with his father and seven other people. When IBOPA broke up, he took one of his men, Cory McCulloch, to create Ten in the Swear Jar, which evolved into Xiu Xiu.
