James sometimes takes the role of lead vocals where he sings and/or screams the majority of the lyrics. Examples of this are in the songs "Last to Know" (Scream Aim Fire) and "No Control" (Hand of Blood). His vocals are usually screams although he does sometimes sing.
Before his time in Bullet For My Valentine, James was the bassist and screamer in the Bridgend metal band N.U.K.E.
Back in his hometown, James is a single father. His daughter's name is Abigail.
