Joanna Going (born July 22, 1963) is an American actress.
Going, the oldest of six children, was born in 1963 in Washington, D.C. to the late Joseph Burke Going and Lorraine M. Going (a police dispatcher). She was raised in Newport, Rhode Island and graduated from Rogers High School in 1981. Going then attended Emerson College for two years, before studying at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.

Going's childhood home in Newport, the Isaac Bell House, a glorious 1883 McKim, Mead and White Shingle Style building on famous Bellevue Avenue, is now owned by the Preservation Society of Newport County and is open as a museum. It is a designated National Historic Landmark.
