Joanna Shimkus (born 30 October 1943 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada) is a Canadian former actress, of Lithuanian descent, married to the Bahamian-American film actor Sir Sidney Poitier.
Brought up in Montréal, Joanna Shimkus went to Paris at age 19, where she became a fashion model, and soon attracted the attention of movie people on the lookout for new talent.

Joanna Shimkus (born 30 October 1943 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada) is a Canadian former actress, of Lithuanian descent, married to the Bahamian-American film actor Sir Sidney Poitier.
Brought up in Montréal, Joanna Shimkus went to Paris at age 19, where she became a fashion model, and soon attracted the attention of movie people on the lookout for new talent.
She made her debut in 1964, in Jean Aurel's film De l'amour, she was then noticed by film director Robert Enrico, who selected her to appear in three of his films; Tante Zita (1967), Les aventurier (1967) and Ho (1968).
In 1968, she appeared in Joseph Losey's film Boom!, opposite Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, and the following year in The Lost Man, opposite Sydney Poitier.
Joanna Shimkus's movie career continued until the early 1970s, one of her last screen appearances being in The Virgin and the Gypsy (1970).
