Hamre (born July 3, 1950) is a specialist in international studies, a former Washington bureaucrat and the current president and CEO of the Center for Strategic and International Studies, a position he has held with that think tank since April 2000. Hamre received a B.A. in political science and economics from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota (1972).
