The game lets the player assume the role of wing commander of an unnamed western alliance campaigning in four different (fictional) war scenarios taking place in Afghanistan, Colombia, Korea and the Kola Peninsula. Alternatively, engage in pure dogfighting against either AI or human opponents through online multiplayer. The player may choose to commandeer either the Lockheed Martin X-35, or the Boeing X-32 multi-role combat aircrafts and take off into combat alongside with up to three AI-controlled wingmen.
