His television acting includes Charles in Charge (the CBS network version), Heart of the City, and the lead character in The New Adventures of Beans Baxter; he has also guest starred in shows such as the Beauty and the Beast series, In the Heat of the Night, Parker Lewis Can't Lose, and Grace Under Fire, as well as the pilot for the short-lived Who's the Boss spin-off Living Dolls.
Ward has also written two documentaries and produced a documentary series titled "Great Books".
