José Carlos de Araújo Nunes (born March 7, 1977 in Castelo de Paiva) is a Portuguese footballer currently playing with Real Club Deportivo Mallorca of La Liga, as a central defender. José Carlos de Araújo Nunes (born March 7, 1977 in Castelo de Paiva) is a Portuguese footballer currently playing with Real Club Deportivo Mallorca of La Liga, as a central defender. Nunes began his professional career with modest outfits in the second division, and made his top flight debuts in 2001-02, with soon-to-be-extinct Sport Comércio e Salgueiros. After a brief stint with Gil Vicente FC, he signed with Sporting Clube de Braga in July 2004, moving in January 2006 to Spain's first division's RCD Mallorca. Nunes made his debut for the new club on the 29th, starting in a 0–3 home loss to FC Barcelona, and adding four league goals in his first full campaign with the Balearic Islands team. less
