Joseph Polisi received a B.A. in political science from the University of Connecticut and subsequently received a M.A. in international relations from Tuft's University. He holds graduate degrees from Yale in music where he completed a Ph.D. of Musical Arts in 1980. Joseph studied the basoon with his late father and performed through his undergraduate years, and additionally studied with Maurice Allard at the Conservatoire de Paris from 1973-74.
