Joseph Hill "Joss" Whedon (born June 23, 1964 in New York City) is an Academy Award-nominated and Hugo Award winning American writer, director, executive producer, occasional actor, and creator and head writer of the well-known television program Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, and Firefly. He has also written several film script and comic book series. After finishing at Winchester College in England, he went on to receive a film degree from Wesleyan University in 1987.
