Foray was born June Lucille Forer, the second of three children (the other two were her elder brother Bertram and younger sister Geraldine) of Maurice Forer and Ida E. Robinson in Springfield, Massachusetts, on September 18, 1917 (but some sources cite 1918, 1919 and 1920 as her year of birth).
