Kenneth "Kene" Earl Holliday (born June 25, 1949 in Copiague, Suffolk County, New York) is a prolific character actor of stage, film and television, best known for his role as Andy Griffith's original private investigator, Tyler Hudson, on the hit television series Matlock. After he auditioned and won the role, both he and his series' lead, Andy Griffith, did not get along well with each other, despite of Holliday having alcohol problems, though his character was frequently seen in almost every episode for the first two seasons, while Griffith was very difficult to work with himself. During the third season of Matlock in 1988, his real-life adventure was in turmoil, as he was sent to rehab due to his disruptive drug and alcohol abuse, which forced him to take several days off of work, and on occasion. By the time he was sober, three months later, he was already fired from the show in 1989. He was replaced in the TV series by actor Clarence Gilyard, who took over the role until 1993....
