Thomas was born in Anchorage, Alaska, the son of Raquel and Leon Thomas, the latter of whom is an army officer who at the time was stationed in Alaska. Khleo's mother is a Jewish immigrant from Morocco and his father is African-American. After living in Germany, the family returned to the United States when he was four. He has three younger siblings, Khadeem (1992), Khameel (1999), and Khaleea (2003). When he was four years old, he saw a television commercial and decided to pursue an acting career, which was encouraged by his mother.
Thomas' first television appearance was on an episode of Bill Cosby's Kids Say the Darndest Things, and he has since starred in such films as Holes, BAADASSSSS!, Friday After Next, Walking Tall and Roll Bounce.
