Currently serving 1,700 students in the Kowloon peninsula, and a member of the Headmasters Conference, it is one of the oldest schools in Hong Kong, with a long history and many traditions. Its students take the IGCSEs followed by the International Baccalaureate. KGV has a unit for children with special needs. The campus is 10.2 acres (41,000 m) in size.
KGV is the oldest of all the schools in the English Schools Foundation. It first opened in 1894 on Nathan Road and originally catered for Europeans living in Kowloon.
