She is played by comic actress Debra Jo Rupp. Kitty is a nurse but sometimes takes a break from her career to make peace in the family. Kitty is in very many ways a typical 1970's wife and mother, putting her family first and always trying to smooth over the many conflicts within her household, although her efforts usually fail.
