Knott Hall was built in 1988, the first residence hall on campus named after a woman, Marion Burk Knott. It originally housed female students, the Knott Angels. However, in 1997 it was converted to a male residence hall. Knott's chapel is dedicated to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. Knott's main rival in recsports events is Siegfried Hall, as both dorms share their origins with the now defunct residence hall, Flanner. Each year, during the second week of classes, the rivalry plays out as both compete in a series of events for the Flanner Cup. Knott's signature event of the academic year is Knott on the Knoll, a show with music and comedy acts held on the knoll between Knott and the Hesburgh Library,
