KSLA went on the air on October 1, 1954, airing programming from all four networks-- CBS, ABC, NBC and DuMont. However, it has always been a primary CBS affiliate. The station's studios were originally housed inside the former Washington Youree Hotel in 1954, the station moved to its Fairfield Avenue studios in the early 1970s.
