On April 10, 2004, Brewster shockingly knocked out Wladimir Klitschko in the fifth round to win the vacant WBO Heavyweight Championship in Las Vegas. While Klitschko dominated the fight at first, Brewster survived the onslaught and rallied to knock out Klitschko. Klitschko claimed that he had been drugged, but this claim was never proven.
