Lianne was the high school sweetheart of future millionaire, Jake Kane. Lianne and Jake both attended Neptune High School, where Lianne was credited to being both a gossip and a friend to the deaf girl, Mary (biological mother of Trina Echolls). Lianne later marries Keith Mars. During her marriage to Keith, Lianne and Jake start having an affair. Because of this affair, Veronica's paternity is at one point under question, but it is later proven that Keith is indeed Veronica's biological father. After the Lilly Kane murder is made public, Lianne left the Mars family for parts unknown.
Lianne later returns in season one, claiming to want to fix her problems. Ever eager to help, Veronica cashes in all of her college savings to enter her mother into rehab....
