At age 15, she moved to the United States from South Africa to attend the Van Der Meer Tennis Academy in Hilton Head, South Carolina in 1992. Huber has since resided in the U.S. She married Tony Huber, an American citizen, in February 2000. In 2005, she started a foundation, Liezel's Cause to raise money and gather basic supplies to assist the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
