The first ski lift was manufactured 1952 at Frösön outside Östersund, Sweden. Being a single man company at the time they only supplied a couple of smaller systems per year. Later ropways licensed technology from Müller in Switzerland that was manufactured locally. Liftbyggarna then acquired Alimak ropeways and concentrated on its own design. In the mid 70s and for another 10 years Liftbyggarna was the Scandinavian representative for Poma. Since the beginning of the 80s Liftbyggarna has concentrated on own designs. The company is a comparatively small supplier but has a stable group of customers.
