Lightspeed's hallmark is lead early stage investing, including an
active seed investment program. We are proud of the fact that a number
of executives with whom we have partnered in the past have chosen
Lightspeed as the lead investor for their subsequent ventures.
We take a collaborative, team approach to investing with two partners
dedicated to each portfolio company. Because we are active lead
investors with an emphasis on quality, not quantity, portfolio
companies receive a high level of attention and support, independent of
location. While the majority of our portfolio companies are US-based,
Lightspeed partners have been investing in Israel for over ten years in
companies such as Galileo Technology, Optier, ScaleMP and Skybox
Security. The firm has also launched the
Lightspeed-Gemini Internet Lab,
a joint initiative with Gemini Israel Funds to seed Israel-based
Internet companies. We are further committed to expanding our
investment footprint in Asia with recent investments in China such as
AMEC.
