She was born Lisa Marie Snawdon in Welwyn Garden City, England to Lydia and Nigel Snawdon, and has two younger sisters, Joanna and Lesley Anne. She moved to London to attend the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts, where her friends included Naomi Campbell. After her parents split up when she was 17, she stayed in London and worked briefly as a dance and yoga teacher.
