Chaudhary was born in Darjeeling, West Bengal, India. She came from a Jat family; however during a recent interview with Zee TV she stated her forefathers have roots in Sylhet, which is now in present day Bangladesh. She did her schooling from Loreto Convent, Darjeeling (although some people remember her from Dow Hill School, Kurseong). Her Father belongs to Darbhanga District of Bihar and she has done her college from Loreto college in dajeeling. She was won Miss darjeeling crown in a local beauty paegent. Chaudhary married Bobby Mukherjee, a well-known architect, in 2006. The two met at an hoteliers' conference that was being held in Las Vegas. She talked about their meeting and wedding in an interview with Times of India, "I was making an appearance there and marriage wasn't part of the plan."
