Marc Brutten

Marc Brutten is Chairman of Westcore Properties, a California-based entrepreneurial real estate investment firm.  In conjunction with Westcore’s President, CEO and Chief Investment Officer, Marc is responsible for developing the company’s strategic direction, growth plans and initiatives. He is also spearheading the company’s expansion into Europe.

Marc has been heralded as one of the most prolific real estate investors in the western United States. Since 1979, he has overseen the acquisition of approximately $2.2 billion in office, retail and industrial properties which total more than 24 million square feet. He has been particularly successful in the acquisition of portfolios and properties that require repositioning and aggressive management to function more successfully in their respective environments.  

Prior to establishing Westcore, Marc was President of Shidler West, Inc., a Hawaii-based real estate investment firm, from 1989 to 2000, where he was principally responsible for the growth of its western United States industrial business. Under his leadership, the company’s asset value grew from $20 million to $800 million.

An entrepreneur to the core, Marc also has ownership interests in an NBA basketball team, a hotel company and a cosmetics manufacturing company, where he serves as Chairman.

A graduate of University of California at San Diego, Marc is past board member  of the San Diego Community Foundation Real Estate Board and the University of California Alumni, where he formerly served as a University Trustee.  Additionally, he is a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI), National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP), Society of Industrial and Office Realtors and the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).
