The first episode aired on 27 April 2009, and the season one finale was broadcast on 19 July 2009. The first Australian MasterChef was Julie Goodwin, a 38 year old I.T. office manager.
A second season of the show is expected to air from April 2010. A celebrity spin-off, Celebrity MasterChef Australia, began airing from 30 September 2009. Another spin-off, Junior MasterChef Australia, is also expected to air in 2010.
