Matt Slocum (born December 27, 1972) is a guitarist, cellist, pianist and composer. He is best known for his work as the principal songwriter and lead guitarist of Sixpence None the Richer.

Slocum played guitar in with Chris taylor on a garage-band tape only release called "A Place to Hide Away (Part 1)" in early 1991, as well as being a principle member of Love Coma, a Christian rock band. From there, he went on to start Sixpence None the Richer.
While attending the same church in New Braunfels, TX, Slocum met vocalist Leigh Bingham Nash at a retreat in the early 1990s. The two formed Sixpence None the Richer and were its only constant members.
In 1998, Slocum played cello on Viva Voce's first album, Hooray For Now.
In 2006, Slocum went on tour playing bass guitar for The Choir. He has also played guitar with Over the Rhine. Currently, Slocum plays bass in the band the Astronaut Pushers.
