Matvei Vasilevich Zakharov (Russian: Матве́й Васи́льевич Заха́ров, August 17, 1898 – January 31, 1972) Marshal of the Soviet Union, Chief General Staff, Deputy Defense Minister, was born in Tver, to peasant parents.
