In episode 3, when a hand was delivered to the Maguire's it was first thought to be Mickey's, this made Mimi distraught saying that she'd swap anyone for Mickey. But it was later discovered that Mickey had been in Bolton and the hand belong to the now deceased Fergal Maguire.
It was in episode 5 of Series 4 that were first found out that Mickey was in fact gay. When Ian was going out he saw Mickey trying to get his dog Nelson off a neighbour and just assumed that it was to do with drugs. While walking away, Ian called Mickey Shane, this annoyed Mickey and he shouted "It's Mickey, not Shane!"
Mickey later turned up unannounced at The Jockey and startled Ian....
