Grace is the daughter of Connie Beauchamp and Sam Strachan. After Connie was accidentally shocked by defibrillator paddles while resuscitating Lola Griffin, she went into an early labour causing Grace to be delivered two months prematurely. Her initial outlook was poor, and when three sets of EEG results showed that she had no brain function, Connie made the decision to switch off her ventilator. However, once removed from the ventilator, Grace began to breathe on her own. It later transpired the test results had been clouded by the administering of morphine immediately prior to each test.
