Slogan:

  • "Stands head and antlers above the rest." This slogan was written in 1984 by a young Sean Riley, a student who included it in lyrics of a song he wrote to the melody of "Farewell to Nova Scotia." Written specially for a contest sponsored by Moosehead at Saint Mary's University pub in Halifax Nova Scotia, he sang and performed it that one time. The term then appeared as the copy for a full page ad in Rolling Stone Magazine in the winter of 1985. Riley never was credited for the slogan but as an avid reader of Rolling Stone at the time, he thought it was pretty cool to be featured somehow in his favourite mag. A native of Saint John, Moosehead is still his favoured beer to this day.
