"Mr. Monk and the Garbage Strike" is the second episode of the fifth season of the TV series Monk.
In the episode, garbage collectors strike, leaving an incredible amount of garbage all over the city. When the head of the Garbage Collector's Union is found dead in a suspected suicide, the union ask Monk to investigate. He is reluctant to do so, but quickly discovers that the suicide was staged. The union leader supposedly shot himself in the right temple but it turned out he was left handed. The killer realized this afterwards and bought a sprain glove and put it in his hand to explain the discrepancy. Hoping to bring a swift resolution to the strike, he goes on record as saying it was suicide, and tries to convince Natalie that his actions were for 'the greater good'. Natalie forces Monk to tell Stottlemeyer the truth, and their investigations lead to the Mayor. They are overheard discussing the case by the press, who quickly latch on to the scandal.
