Known manufacturers for the 15 and 30 MG strengths of the tablet form are Ethex, Glenmark, and Roxane pharmaceuticals. Unfortunately, the FDA does not require that efficacy of these generics meets the same standard as the original formulation by Purdue. This is an issue for some.
These drugs are often prescribed for patients with chronic pain (e.g., from terminal cancer) who are already taking extended-release formulations of morphine or other opioids, such as Kadian or MS Contin, but require a rescue dose for breakthrough pain.
