On July 1, 2008, Soda Pictures, the UK distributors of My Winnipeg, launched a filmmaking competition 'Your Winnipeg' to tie in with the film's UK theatrical release. The competition called for filmmakers to create 3 minute documentaries of their home towns. The winning film would be featured on the UK DVD release of My Winnipeg and will also win a holiday to Winnipeg. In addition the winning film together with 3 runners up would screen on Channel 4 and receive £1500.
