The beginning of this story takes place in the year 1994. Ned Frischman, the stereotypical nerd, laments that he has not received employee of the month, despite his uncomplaining and assiduous work ethic. Suddenly, Ned's zipper spontaneously begins to metamorphose, and he comes to realize that this is no ordinary zipper; it is a time travelling device. Ned promptly decides to travel back in time and take over the ancient world, wrongly believing that his modern technological advances will facilitate his acquisition of power.
After twice failing in his ambitious scheme, Ned introduces to the ancients a device known as the Gameguy, which rapidly becomes a fad, used by everyone from the royal family, to hairdressers, royal guards, and even invaders. Using everyone's love for this device, Ned enslaves the public and forces them to build pyramids in his honor. This...
