There are many families who have lived in the area for generations. Some are buried in the cemetery at Keystone United Methodist Church on Race Track Road. The area is rapidly being swallowed up by development as Tampa expands and needs more bedroom communitiesto house people.

It merges into and overlaps an area known as Keystone, named for the large lake of the same name. The mailing area that uses the city of Odessa stretches south to South Mobley Road and north past State Road 54.
