When the Oliver Peoples brand was purchased in 2006 by Oakley, Oakley themselves were subsequently purchased in 2007 by Luxottica Group S.p.A., the world's largest eyewear company and owner of multiple brands, such as Lens Crafters, Ray-Ban, Sunglass Hut International, and Persol. Two Oliver Peoples veterans, Bill Barton, former president of Oliver Peoples, and Patty Perreira, vice-president of design, launched the luxury eyewear brand Barton Perreira.
