The film has gained an underground cult following and is considered by many to be the last of Argento's masterpiece horror films. Opera has received high praise from many critics and was included in the book 100 Greatest Horror Films You've Never Seen. A young opera singer (Betty) gets her big chance when the previous star of a production of Verdi's Macbeth is run over by a car.
